The First Universal Common Ancestor

Ether, like physicality, is a phenomena that can only be affected by itself. Only a physical force can apply any sort of change to a physical object, the same principles also apply to ether with two major exceptions.
The first exception is that while physical matter is bound to the laws of physics, ether is not, able to have a subjective reality depending on the DNA-like nature it has developed dictating it, how it's reality bending prowess is employed for that specific group of ether. Also, this nature, unlike the naturally unbending rules of physics, can change overtime. Though how still remains mostly unknown. It's believed by some that this evolving nature is what led to ether eventually becoming sentient life, consciousness being one of the eccentricities this unique instance of ether has managed to develop. Some believe this is how everything came to be.

The second exception is how ether can become distorted by the metaphysical. An idea, by itself cannot move a rock since the idea itself does not have any true physical existence. Though the neurological physicality of the idea may lead to a chain reaction of stimuli that will eventually induce physical change but all of that still remain in the domain of physical matter, there is still an unmoving barrier between a pure thought and the world. That barrier that divides pure cognition from physicality fails to do the same between cognition and ether.
Cognition, psyche, the metaphysical and those sorts can destabilize ether's unique natural reality causing its influences to become a two-way street. In the basic sense, Gnoscanima, or Id, is simply destabilized ether that has taken on a metaphysical concept as a framework for their unique nature and reality.


The Programmed Reality
If ether can be described as DNA, the mind can be described as it's virus. Without prior knowledge that ether had been destabilized and tampered, its near indiscernible from ether due to it still retaining its unique reality, only that is has been reprogrammed. No Id manifestation is made purely of one singular cognition, as unless whatever new nature it has taken on says otherwise, it will retain its progenitor's primal instincts to survive and grow as well as any other minute pieces of cognition it has come across, the current binomial nomenclature being based from the dominant observable traits.
In truth, due to the inconceivable amount of cognition and combinations , the amount of Id that proves to be dangerous is really quite small compared to all the Id in the world, though this fact is largely obscured as it may lead to a dangerous positive feedback loop. There are many phenomena that are observed and employed by the modern public that are technically Id but still considered "ether" or completely overlooked due to the ignorant assumption that ether is good while Id is bad.
An example of this is the idea that people can be recognized by their "unique ether signature" when in reality, people are being recognized by the Id they give off. Another example that seems to be ignored by almost all of the public is that the phenomena of "etherious" abilities is an Id phenomena.


Doctrine and Delusion
Recent studies have verified a fact that has been inordinately obvious but still overlooked, the fact the abilities are born from Id. This and many other misinformation are still very prevalent in society and is still taught as and considered doctrine. Those dubbed "Etherious" are significantly less removed from Id than what they are led to believe. Developments have allowed researchers to better observe the scientific processes of awakening and core crystallization. The past belief that abilities are innate anomalies had left a lot if unanswered questions. The first of which and the first step to the current discoveries were the observation of many reoccurring instances that were far too suspicious to be simply credited to mere coincidence. There have been many abilities, that are supposed to be born from random etherious mutation and chance, that have been extraordinarily appropriate considering the person and the situation that triggered it. An ability's strange characteristic to always reflect a portion of their bearer was the key to discovering more about this process.


The Scientific Process
Currently, the process is currently understood as such, abilities are a last resort to an immediate threat that may be triggered by a traumatic experience, irreconcilable incident or great ordeal. Facing such scenarios are often accompanied by extreme mental stress due to rushing thoughts, intense emotion and perhaps even the recollection every memory through their "life flashing before their eyes".
These three aspects are precisely what triggers the development of Id, and it does so in an intriguing fashion. These and the primal instinct to survive induce the destabilization of a portion of a person's ether and the culmination of these three factors, which are innate faculties of the body in an attempt to survive, inadvertently become imprinted onto the destabilized ether, incomplete Id.
An interesting fact to note is that this phenomena is only made possible due to the psyche being recognized as a biproduct of the person and as such not considered foreign but natal, being from it in the first place. It's this aspect of the psyche being imprinted that allows it to bypass ether's natural rejection. All known attempts to introduce foreign cognition into a person's ether has proved impossible, even artificially altered cognition that originated from them
This culmination is undoubtedly too much on their ether and in an attempt to reconcile both ensuing events, it condenses and concentrates all of the ether modified by the culminative psyche brought on by the trauma into a stabilized matrix of Id, a core, whose unique reality now exists as a personal anomaly. The result of this process is the semi-stabilization of one's ether that has retained a semblance of control over its altered nature and is expressed as an ability. Also, due to this reaction being a response to an ordeal, the ensuing ability often grants them a capacity to overcome it.

There is often an interval of time between the initial destabilization of awakening and the crystallization of a core as the stabilization process may take varying amounts of time or require a something of the bearer such as a moments repose. As such this potentially life saving deus ex machina id are often annoyingly photofinished best or tragically too late at worst.

These people teeter on the line between ether and Id, retaining ether's inflexible nature while gaining capabilities from an outside force. This mild instability is the truth of abilities.
Though this is an incomplete process, able to take a step towards tragedy or triumph.
