Dwarves

Dwarves looks like thick and short men, usually very hairy and strong. As legends says, they were created by the ancient Giants of Monta-Vest who discovered the valuable ores in the tunnels under their feet but were too big to crawl inside of them themselves. Both racially and culturally speaking, Dwarves can be categorised into two main groups: Surface and Cave dwarves.

Surface Dwarves

Thousands of years after the creations, the Cave dwarves were allowed to live their tunnels and live in the surface. Although many have stayed under-ground, those who left their old homes evolved into a new subraces – Mountain and hill dwarves   These are the classic D&D Dwarves – they look more human-like than their ancestors in the caves, with a spectrum of complexion that resembles human and not a stone. The surface dwarves usually live in city-states controlled by a Goliath or a Giant, and they serve as the middle and lower class. The surface of Monta-ves was never conquered by a single kingdom and until today, many surface dwarves stigmatizes dwarves of other subraces and cultures.   Although their armies are great in numbers, and many dwarves have wanted to – the kings and queens of Monta-vest have decided not to send their troops to help in the great war, for they care very little for non-dwarven culture and life. The world have remembered this, and the surface dwarves are often mocked by both foreign military and even war-ballads.

Cave dwarves

These tunnel-delving creatures are rather different than most humanoids: their skin and flesh is hard and cold, stone-like at texture. Some of them have rocks and gems sticking out of their body in different places, varying in size and numbers – these are their soul-stones. Every cave dwarf has a stone that represent him, giving him special abilities and change their skin colours accordingly: a marble dwarf will have a white beard and pale, smooth skin – while gold dwarf will have yellowish skin color and beard. Infect, the term “Cave dwarves” describe dozens if not hundreds of dwarven races of different origins, from diamond to charcoal.   Cave dwarves live in deep tunnels, both natural and dwarven-made. In their unbelievably deep and complicated caves, one can find both great cities with thousands of inhabitants, as well as small villages with very little connection to not only the outside world but to other dwarven cities as well. In their very hierarchical society, cave dwarves are separated into casts – more rare and valuable soul-stones are in higher casts, having academic or artistic jobs, while cheap and common stone dwarves are usually miners and agricultural. The cave-dwarven society is ran by an oligarchy of Gem-dwarfs.   Most cave dwarves never have never left the undergrounds – they prefer to stay inside of it and away from the sun. But sometimes they have to – the cave-dwarven economy is based on trade with others (especially the Merchant alliance) – for on one hand they have many stones of great value to sell, and on the other it is quite difficult to grow food under-ground.

Bonus: Playing as a Cave-dwarf

Cave-dwarves are divided into two types: gem-dwarves and rock-dwarves.   Gem dwarves   Gem dwarves are rare, and are considered very beautiful.
