Ajijia-Civa (a ɪ a siva)
Windswept, hot, and humid, the town of Ajijia Civa abides near the foot of the Brinr mountains.
The Area
History
The town was first settled three hundred years ago by a group of migrating Gahusnr. Due to its elevated position, the homes are able to cluster more than other Gahus settlements and the buildings do not sink into the soil. During times of flood in the past, the towns population swelled as refugees fled to higher elevation.
Town Life
The Residents
With over two-hundred inhabitants, this settlement forms a fairly large Gahusnr town. Consisting mostly of fishermen and fisherwomen, they venture down into the marshlands to gather up the bountiful amount of fish and frogs there- bringing back the occasional useful herb or moss. Forming the upper class are potters, weapon-smiths, and artisians- about ten percent of the population.
Resources
In the quiet, still waters of the marsh lie the beautiful Lasmili trees, their glowing white blooms attracting wayward moths. Although their fruit is bitter and astringent, the trees are well prized by the residents for their ability to light up the dark valleys and allow for night fishing. White cedar trees also grow in abundance along the lower section of the hills, leading to a abundant canoe trade. The hills' close proximity to the mountains is spoken for by the quarries of white stone and quartz, marking the stonework of each home with a distinctive shine.
Aquaculture
Fish are foraged carefully among the residents of this town. Nurseries are set aside by many fishermen, who stake out their claims with handmarked stones. The dearly prized cattail is grown in tandem here, protecting the young fish from hungry egrets and herons.
