King Reinhard Arsène Jean Astier (a.k.a. Reinhard the Gentle)
Citizens of the small kingdom lined the streets of the capital city, anxiously awaiting the royal procession. A young girl sat perched on the shoulders of her brother, her pretty pinafore carefully pressed by a doting father's hands. She clutched a single white-petaled flower in her hands.
The crowds began to cheer as the procession came into view. The little girl leaned forward as far as she could, straining to see the approaching soldiers and the two royals on their fine horses. The girl thrust out her hand, chanting, "King Reinhard!" Her brother attempted to hush her, doubting that the king would acknowledge her. A tall figure on a palomino horse pulled alongside the brother and sister, and the girl smiled a very gap-toothed grin, offering up the flower to the rider as her brother watched in awe.
King Reinhard graciously took the offering and raised it to his nose, inhaling deeply the flower's sweet scent. A kind smile on his face, the young king tucked the flower behind his ear before taking the girl's hand and kissing the back. The little girl waved dazedly as King Reinhard moved his horse back into the parade, giving a fleeting glance back as he did so.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Tall and well-built, with elegant features. With his court suit on, he can appear rather weak and scrawny, but he is really quite agile and fast with wiry muscles.
Body Features
Reinhard has fair skin which tans instead of burns and stays mostly soft despite the work he does. His hair is a dark, wine red, straight, and kept either cropped close to above his ears or long to past his shoulders. If the latter, Reinhard will wear it in a ponytail, which makes him look remarkably distinguished.
Facial Features
Reinhard has a long, straight nose with a narrow bridge, and well-defined cheekbones. His chin is square, and he has a strong jawline. He has some premature, stress-induced wrinkles, but they are not prominent enough to age him greatly. His hooded eyes are a silvery, dead-looking grey; even when he's fully alert, he can look half-asleep. Reinhard has a short, scruffy goatee; he believes it looks dignified, but everyone else is on the fence.
Identifying Characteristics
He has a healed piercing in his right earlobe, a mole on his right hip, a grouping of small keloid birthmarks on the small of his back, and a scar on the inside of his left ankle. The scar comes from a fall he had as a child, and he let the piercing heal after he decided that it was too uncomfortable.

Personal history
Born 5 Mois de Floraison, 1120 D.E., Reinhard Astier was the first child of King Gernot and Queen Leonarda. Reinhard was groomed for the throne from birth, and he took to diplomacy and politics well. Even from a young age, Reinhard showed a great aptitude for political maneuvering and promised to be a kind, understanding leader when the time came.
Unfortunately, that time came much sooner than anyone anticipated. In 1136, King Gernot fell ill and soon passed away. Queen Leonarda was next in line due to her son's age, but she became bedridden with grief and passed away herself two months later. Still in grieving, Reinhard was crowned King, the youngest in Bluerian history.
To the great surprise of the Royal Court, the new King was quite an apt leader and quickly demonstrated this by singlehandedly renewing the nation's crumbling trade agreement with the merchant country of Rsivalli. The Bluerian people almost immediately developed a fondness for the young King, and the kingdom continued to prosper under Reinhard's rule as it had under his predecessors.
As of 1146, Reinhard has been King of Blueria for 10 years.

Reinhard was educated almost entirely through private tutors and his own father's guidance. His education was not cut short after his parents' deaths, as he continued his required lessons until reaching legal adulthood. The advice formerly provided by his father was now given by Zachariah Hopewell, a close family friend and Minister of Endroitsûr.
