Marriage (Blueria)
Marriage is considered to be the religious and financial joining of 2 or more people of consenting age.
History
Bluerian marriage traditions are derived from Sanverian traditions, but they were influenced by the provincial attitudes and tight-knit views of family.
Execution
The persons to be married must give both oral and written consent of the union in front of at least 1 witness who is NOT a) one of the persons to be married, or b) the officiant of the ceremony. A person who refuses to consent might be asked to provide a reason; this is mostly to weed out forced marriages and otherwise bad relationships.
After the marriage is in effect, the persons involved gain certain financial and religious rights. The married persons have property rights in the event of one another's death, the right to apply for divorce, and citizenship in the event that one (or more in polygamous relationships) was not a citizen before.
