Terraria

Terraria is a parallel of our Earth. However Terraria, as a planet, began to sustain life hundreds of millions of years before ours. There's also traces of the initial primordial elements all around. It's highly volatile and reactive to every other atom and cell here. This plasma-like element simply referred to as Chaos, has made the life forms here just as dangerous as the element itself.   The early overabundance of Chaos aids to evolve certain animal species into Therio Sapiens. Select individuals discover how manipulate Chaos, these are the first intended uses of magic by a sentient being. From there, certain species go on to evolve into being better mediums for Chaos and become more human looking beings with less animalistic natural abilities, Homo Sapiens. Overtime, the species continued to change and now a new species is rising. Chaos in the mortal plane is now waning and humans less sensitive to it are being born to become the magically inert, Homo Sapiens Impotens. The last generation began using magic closer to the way we would develop science, called sorcery. Now "nonmedius" humans, people who are unable to tap into Chaos, are rushing to gain power in actual science now that they are naturally less able to defend themselves, especially as children. The species could go extinct if they were left to defend themselves.     The death of the first powerful Therio Sapien saw the discovery of planes and dimensions. That therian's soul did not cease to exist but miraculously or by sheer force of will, attached himself to another plane of existence and gave him an astronomical amount of power. This was the first Ascension. Since then, less than a dozen have accrued the necessary power to Ascend. The Ascendant Pantheon is mostly populated by human warlords who fought each other within their same lifetimes. Descendants of their followers follow them as gods now in hopes to become powerful enough to Ascend.   Life for the mortals of Terreria is dangerous. The flora and fauna are more aggressive in response to the absorption of Chaos as well as the need to survive. Rightfully so, Therio Sapiens live by Law of Strength to ensure their species' survival. Homo Sapiens exist by the Liberty of Will, where they live in clan-like societies and live close to nature but protected by shamans and their warrior class. Those who become powerful in the channeling chaotic power thrive by the Devotion of Magic which has given those who live long enough immense power to protect themselves at the cost of their own natural survivability. Their practice of sorcery has lead them to create magical analogs for technology that we in our world have. Because of this, humans flock to the cities where their power in numbers protect the young. These societies and kingdoms have risen and fallen but human resilience in the face of fear and primal power has kept them safe and relatively peaceful times. However, the unprecedented peace has lead to the growing weakness of men and humans are now becoming less sensitive to magic. Homo Sapiens Impotens, by the Grace of Protection, learned to observe, identify, describe, and use experimental investigation to create theoretical explanation of their world's phenomena. Despite their obvious weakness, their minds have lead to a renaissance. A cultural shock to the prior understanding of strength and power.
