Yesterday, tragedy struck the city of Weelens as a violent altercation left fifty deceased and another fifty severely injured. The violence began in a warehouse owned by a local leonin businessman, who had employed a number of people to work there. Witnesses report that three individuals - one tabaxi, one warforged, and one human - entered the premises and were quickly confronted by the leonin employer. Sensing danger for himself and his employees, he commanded them to attack the intruders. In response, witnesses say that the warforged unleashed an electrical shock that killed or incapacitated 50 workers on site before any guards arrived to intervene. The identity of those involved remains unclear at this point but police are currently investigating those responsible for this horrific crime. Reports from medical staff suggest that many survivors suffered severe physical injuries as well as psychological trauma caused by witnessing their fellow workers’ deaths first-hand during these tragic events.
The leonin businessman has since released a statement condemning the actions of those involved and expressing his condolences to the victims' families. He also confirmed that he will be providing financial assistance to all survivors, as well as helping to arrange funerals for the deceased.
In response to this tragedy, Weelens mayor Hanne Achille has announced plans for additional guards patrolling the city's warehouses in an attempt to deter further violence and protect citizens from similar events in the future. Furthermore, civic leaders are calling for increased public safety measures across the entire city.
