Dwarven Iron

Said to be the strongest substance on Terra Viejo, this incredibly dense, silvery metal is so beautiful and fine that dirt and blood are loathe to mar its immaculate surface. It is said this is why edged weapons made of dwarven iron appear so sharp - flesh and blood part before the edge in order not to stain its loveliness. It is typically used in applications which require tremendous strength where its weight won't be a problem. Only Dwarven smiths have mastered the ability to forge this metal.   Items made from dwarven iron are extremely durable and as such do not require much maintenance, you gain an expertise die when making maintenance checks. Crafting weapons and armor from dwarven iron requires unimaginable skill on the part of the smith, as a result such items are considered one quality level higher (standard becomes fine, fine becomes masterwork).
  • Weight Modifier: x1.5
  • Cost Modifier: x4
  • Armor: Armors made of dwarven iron require greater strength to wear. Any metal armor composed of dwarven iron has its Strength requirement increased by 2, if it does not have a Strength requirement it now requires Strength 12 to wear without penalty. While wearing armor made of dwarven iron, the first critical hit against you since your last short rest becomes a normal hit. You cannot use this feature again until you make adjustments to the armor during a short or long rest.
  • Weapons: Weapons made of dwarven iron lose the finesse property, if they have it, and weapons without the finesse property gain the heavy property. Dwarven iron's density and almost supernatural ability to maintain an incredibly sharp edge grants the vicious property to weapons crafted with it.
