The Plahagos Fortress

The capital calls the fortress Plahagos. It is one of the most northern places inhabited by human beings an invaluable source of Ultra Fluid, that is harvested from the local World Tree in a more rubber-like form making it easy to transport and process.   Plahagos is situated on the northern side of the Black Gulf having only an eastern exterior wall and 2 other interior layers of walls. There have been attempts to secure the whole Plahagos peninsula but the creatures of the north are much more resilient than others making them extremely difficult to face.   The government of Plahagos is an oligarchy like most other fortresses. The economy is based on the trade of Ultra Fluid and the army is made up of multiple mercenary organizations that are hired indefinitely by the merchants to protect their valuables and to escort them when moving around in the fortress and between fortresses.   There exists a Fortress Guard that is in charge of defending the walls of the fortress but they are less relevant in the affairs of the government and the economy despite being the reason everybody is still alive.

Geography

The Plahagos peninsula is an ice covered taiga with the occasional forests of Old Terra original, coniferous trees that have adapted to this area and underground World Trees. To the north there is the Sommus Sea that allows little to no passage to ships because of the many ice blocks that float around. To the south and west there is the Black Gulf that connects Plahagos to the other Fortresses and allows for a sustainable source of food in form of fish and marine creatures that are actively hunted by the fishermen of the three Fortresses that have access to the Black Gulf.

Fauna & Flora

Flora

in the north is made up mostly by Old Terra coniferous trees and the occasional underground World Trees.   The trees from Old Terra have been modified by early colonists in an attempt to make the planet more like home. They plagued the lands of Terra Ultra with the high rate of reproduction and small seeds that were easily blown by the wind allover the world. Since then, the local flora has adapted to the invaders and in some cases even uses them as source of food.   The most relevant type of flora on Terra Ultra is the World Trees. Large, fungal-like creature that forms a large network of roots sometimes larger than 50 km around the main body from which smaller subspecies of the World Tree sprout to the surface creating World Forests. The main body is usually in the center of the forests towering above everything else at around 180 meters. The northern World Trees have adapted to grow their main body underground to protect it from the low temperatures but the network of roots still expands outwards close to the surface to create World Forests. Most of the other flora types use the roots of the World Trees to grow on, feeding on their sap that they synthesize from unknown ores that lie deep in the planets crust.

Fauna

in the north is like in the most places, extremely dangerous to humans. It consists of the usual rock monsters (silicon based creatures like the flora) and some descendants of the Old Terra creatures that have been created by the early colonists and modified to be able to survive in the new environment. The northern creatures are significantly larger than their southern counterparts, mainly to be able to withstand the low temperatures. Like all the creatures that originate on Terra Ultra, most creatures are silicon based and use different types of Ultra Fluid to power themselves.

Natural Resources

Plahagos is a known producer of Ultra Fluid and the biggest provider of Ultra Rubber that is the solid variant of the Ultra Fluid. The Ultra Rubber is harvested directly from the world trees and requires a special substance called World Ash to be returned to the fluid state.   The vast forests of coniferous trees also provide a steady source of lumber but it is mostly used by the locals for building projects. Fauna inside the fortress is another source of food for the locals besides fishing.   Plahagos requires constant supplies of food and ore to sustain itself because of the extremely poor land for farming and the numerous underground world trees that block the mines. Although it lack these resources, the demand for Ultra Fluid is as always high, being the main fuel source for most vehicles and electricity generation techniques.
