Lycans

Lycans are one of few hybrid races not created by precursor technology, or interference by the gods. when a lycanthrope mates with a human or other humanoid races, a Lycan is born. Lycans are fiercly loyal to those they call friends, and especially to those they call family.

they have multiple tribes scattered throughout terra, all of which have their own traditions and customs. though they generally are isolationists and just want to be left alone. However, a known group of them are the night clans living in the moongrove, a group of lycan tribes who banded together for survival.

they revere both Garl (the trickster god) and Yfree (god of nature), believing both gods responsible for the creation of lycanthropes, and by extension, them.

History

the lycans were a race born completely naturally, unlike almost all other races of Terra. when a Lycanthrope is in its beast form, it is still fertile and able to mate with humans. and when they do mate with humans, what's born is a lycan. The first of these Lycans came from 5 powerful lycanthropes, now known to them as the progenitors; Fenris the wolf king, Ilharg the great boar, Tiigrii the hunter, Ursa the den mother, and one only known as the unseen. The progenitors are seen as gods of a sort, and are revered by the Lycan tribes as their creators, along with Yfree, who is believed to created lycanthropy in the first place.

Common Myths and Legends

Tale of Creation: The lycans believe that the progenitors each were the strongest of all. however before their ascension they were mortal, and felt the need to continue their bloodlines. Mating with their fellow lycanthropes proved useless, creating only normal beasts or lycanthropes with far more beastial minds. Desperate, they would find a tribe of humans and strike a bargain with them; in exchange for mates, they would grant this tribe immesurable power. The offspring of these lycanthropes would become the first lycans, and they would spread through the world.

the lycan tribes just want to be left alone. if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. but if you help them, they will help you.

it can depend on the lycans ancestry. if they are descended from a werewolf, they usually are built like the average human. if they are descended from a werebear they are taller and burlier than a human. if descended from a weretiger, they are lithe and thin. If they are descended from a wereboar, they are broad chested with small tusks in their mouths. If descended from wererats, they are short and thin.
