Elf

The most ancient tales speak of elves as the children of the god Corellon. Unlike many similar myths involving other races, these tales are true. Elves are all descended from a deity, and their origin led to a tragedy that shapes their culture to this day.   The gulf between the elves and their ancient god Corellon, and the split between Corellon and Lolth, arose from the same transgression. That one incident set all the many races of elves on their present paths, determined their unique life cycle, and triggered an unflagging hatred between the drow and the elves of the Material Plane. No other event has had such a momentous impact on elven history as the one that began it all.   Elves are a magical people of otherworldly grace, living in places of ethereal beauty, in the midst of ancient forests or in silvery spires glittering with faerie light, where soft music drifts through the air and gentle fragrances waft on the breeze. Elves love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry. Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims full adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.   Elves love freedom, variety, and self-expression, so they lean strongly towards the gentler aspects of chaos. They value and protect others' freedom as well as their own, and are good more often than not. The exile of the Drow into the Underdark has made people think them vicious and dangerous.   Elves range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.   Elves do not sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is "trance". While meditating, you dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.

Subraces

Drow

Drow also known as dark elves, deep elves, night elves, or sometimes "The Ones Who Went Below" on the surface, are a dark-skinned subrace of elves that predominantly live in the Underdark. They are mostly hated and feared due to their alleged cruelty, though many non-evil and good drow exist. They were banished by the Yerentil Empire to the Underdark during the emergence of the subraces, however many families have returned since.

Eladrin

Eladrin are elves native to the Feywild, a realm of beauty, unpredictable emotion, and boundless magic. An eladrin is associated with one of the four seasons and has colouration reminiscent of that season, which can also affect the eladrin's mood. Some eladrin remain associated with a particular season for their entire lives, whereas other eladrin transform, adopting characteristics of a new season.   When finishing a long rest, any eladrin can change their season. An eladrin might choose the season that is present in the world or perhaps the season that most closely matches the eladrin's current emotional state. For example, an eladrin might shift to autumn if filled with contentment, another eladrin could change to winter if plunged into sorrow, still another might be bursting with joy and become an eladrin of spring, and fury might cause an eladrin to change to summer.

Half-elf

Half-elves are humanoids born through the union of an elf and a human. Whether a half-elf is raised by their human parent or their elven parent, they often feel isolated and alone. Because they take around twenty years to reach adulthood, they mature quickly when raised by elves (who think they look like humans), making them feel like an outsider in either place. Most half-elves are descended from moon elves. Pairings of elves and other races also exist, though they are rare.

High Elf

High elves are roughly of human height, standing from 5′5″‒6′1″ on average, but are lighter, weighing from 130 to 180 pounds. Even exceptionally strong high elves look rather slim compared to other races, looking athletic rather than muscular. Most high elves are fair-skinned rather than dark, though sun elven skin is a hue darker than that of the star elves and moon elves in particular, is dark brown. Most high elves have fair hair, with silvery hues common among moon elves and star elves while blond or copper hues were more common among the sun elves. This hair is often worn long and loose,

Sea Elf

Sea elves fell in love with the wild beauty of the ocean in the earliest days of the multiverse. While other elves travelled from realm to realm, the sea elves navigated the deepest currents and explored the waters across a hundred worlds. Today, they live in small, hidden communities in the ocean shallows and on the Elemental Plane of Water. Using gestures and sounds, they can communicate simple ideas with any beast that has an innate swimming speed.

Wood Elf

Wood elves are easily identifiable by their coppery skin and green, brown, or hazel eyes. Wood elven hair is usually black or brown, although hues such as blond or copper red are also found. Wood elves tend to dress in simple clothes, similar to those of the moon elves but with fewer bold colours and a greater number of earth tones that blend into their natural surroundings. Accustomed to a harsh, naturalistic lifestyle, wood elves love to wear leather armour, even when they're not under immediate threat. Wood elves are roughly identical to other elves in height and build, with males larger than females

Pallid Elf

Pallid elves are a subrace of elves distinctive by their pale skin, which is said to be as pale as the moon. The race became pale from living underground away from all light for a long time following the destruction of their home. Pallid elves are seen as mystical and insightful; having only just emerged from the Pallid Grove, they wander Exandria with a childlike curiosity. Pallid elves have two rare abilities: "Incisive Sense" and "Blessing of the Moon Mother".
