Terosia

While nobody is entirely sure what came before, what we do know is that Terosia has existed since before there was memory. Many creation myths speak of a force called Majia, which existed to counter the Sempiternal Mists. As it forced it's way out of the land, it pushed the Mists back, revealing the main continent as they went.   Now a world split between two realms, Terosia has become divided between the various cultures that have arisen, and finds itself plagued by a war that is simply a continuation of the ancient argument about which technological process is superior. In the east, the Erani hold back with their scientific method, unwilling to be the ones to destroy the world with their advanced technologies; while in the west, the Majia-wielding Vatrysians seek to dominate the land and drive out the scientific processes that threaten their safety.   The land is divided into regions based on climate, geography, and common plant species, with the further north a region is, the cooler the temperature becomes. Mountains, hills, forests, rivers, lakes, and grasslands make a richly diverse landscape to explore, with a myriad of settlements, from towns and steadings to camps and dens, offering a colourful array of characters to engage with. While the war might not be at the forefront of everyone's mind, it's effects are still felt throughout the regions.   The history of Terosia is said to be "longer than the day", which at first seems like a nonsensical comment - of course the entirety of history is longer than a single day - however that is not what this saying means. Events were remembered through oral tradition long before the concept of a stable day/night cycle existed, and in all that time people have been creating, destroying, and rebuilding as needed. The only things in the entire world that remain unchanged are the World Spike, the center of all Majian influence, and the ancient Ma'hari, standing stones that offer a direct connection to the forces of Majia that influence the world's chaos.
