Terminal City, USA

Terminal City is Anytown, USA. A curious city-in-a-bottle, no one ever arrives and no one ever leaves unless it's in the back of a hearse. No one seems terribly curious about what lies beyond the hills and ridges that surround the city, nor does anyone seem terribly concerned with the strange qualities of its mayor, Mike Fallopian, who appears to be in his late 40's and has since the city's founding in 1972. It also doesn't seem strange to them that in spite of elections against actual Terminal City citizens, Mike easily coasts to victory and remains the city's mayor. Nor does it seem strange that at the city's center, located outside of the municipal offices is a 650 foot bronze statue in his likeness, pointing toward the north and emitting a subtle hum. No one seems all that concerned by the ubiquity of the word Yoyodyne, stamped and printed on every product sold in the city, "Made by Yoyodyne", "Proudly produced by Yoyodyne", "You're enjoying a Yoyodyne product!" No one seems terribly interested in the fact that public municipal services are, in fact, private, and that things like police, fire, and infrastructure are handled by a shadowy fleet of white vans bearing the words The Phone Company, painted in black in a tasteful serif font.   Terminal City continues forward, always forward, striving for greatness. Striving for perfection. Terminal City now. Terminal City forever. Meliora, non est effugium.
