With long-standing struggles between the nations of the old-world, the discovery of new lands abroad opened up many opportunities for a fresh start - too many to be ignored. People flocked to the new lands in droves, spurred on by governmental measures in most cases, and carved a place for themselves amidst the wilderness.
These days, civilization has spread to no small part of the once-wild land, but vast swathes of untamed territory still lie beyond the grasping hands of hopeful men. However, conflicts big and small rage about how these lands and resources should be used, who should own them, and whose authority even exists in these parts.
