Dragons

A species very much tied to the land they dwell in the dragons of each nation is wildly different so much so that if it wasn't for the fact that they all call themselves dragons one would think they were entirely different species.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Krystian dragons are quadrupedal creatures with leathery wings and armor like scales; each dragon has an element and an aura effect that can be focused in a beam that fires out of their mouth their abilities are lessened when around other dragons.   Ascalan dragons are thinner almost snake like creatures with no legs and small wings used for intimidation instead of flight they can fly through unknown means they also have scales and though they are not as tough as their Krystian counterpart but are instead oily allowing them to slip around between extremely tight spaces with ease.   Forster dragons are the smallest of the bunch being shorter than the average human and can switch between standing on two legs or four they can grasp things but their thicker fingers cause them to be worse at things requiring precision with their hands.

Biological Traits

Females are smaller and better fliers than males while males have more brute strength and are more combative.

Growth Rate & Stages

Forster dragons age in a similar way to humans though it does happen at a slightly accelerated rate if they have a bond with a human they're aging becomes synchronized to the person they're bonding.   Krystian dragons age very slowly and have long childhoods. Young dragons are highly treasured by the Krsytian dragons.   Ascalan dragons continuously grow at first at great speeds but eventually it slows down to a slower speed and even later this slows down even more to an almost unnoticeable rate an Ascallan dragon always knows when it's about to die as they feel themselves stop growing when they are about to do so.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ascalan dragons rarely need to eat and can survive off of very little nutrients.   Krystian dragons can feed off of the natural energy of their nature but they can also eat normal food, but doing so makes them less in touch with their elements.   Forsts dragons prefer meat but can eat anything humans can.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Krystian dragons work as a group and follow a hierarchy entirely based on age, listening to and revering anyone older than them doing basically anything except killing their own kind or telling someone their true name. This has caused them to serve ancient evils in the past but currently works for The 100 Year Witch who gave each a unique title and job.   Forster dragons often make their own communities though they rarely join human settlements and have social structures as complex as humans though there's less of a distance between classes of dragons and it is considered a blessing for a human and a dragon to become soul bonded.   Ascalan dragons are loners by nature and their interactions with other dragons is almost purely based around who owns what territory.   Any one of these types of dragons will treat dragons from other locations the same way they would treat their type.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Krystian dragons' scales can be used as an alternative to elemental crystals, but they highly value their scales and it is a serious thing when a dragon is willing to give it up though not as much as the knowledge of their name.   Ascalan dragons are considered sacred and their support is no small thing.   Forster dragons are slightly stronger and more durable then the average worker so they are highly valued for brute labor they have been studied under the magic community and the spells that work for Forster humans do not work for dragons.

Average Intelligence

Krystian dragons while intelligent think in a way that is fundamentally different from humans and usually finds them highly confusing.   Ascalan dragons usually have insights that they would have no way of knowing but they take no interest in others and spend most of their time in a state similar to hibernation.   Forster dragons think in pretty much the same way as humans though they have a slight link between themselves and all other dragons allowing them to be in tune with their feelings and helps them understand how they think.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All dragons are able to see the souls of others showing them their age and how much/what type of magic anybody has.   Ascalan dragons can discover knowledge through the patterns shiny objects leave in their minds.   Some rare Forster dragons are able to communicate with the spirits of dead Forster dragons.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Krystian dragons usually find demonstrations of their elements beautiful though this isn't always the case.   Forster dragons admire strength in all forms both physical and emotional   Ascalan dragons find beauty in materials particularly the shiny ones as they can see the glimmer while their eyes are closed and enjoy hibernating with wealth around them.

Courtship Ideals

Ascalan dragons do not have relationships even for children and instead when there's a vacancy in Ascala a pregnant dragon will be compelled to come to Ascalla and it's child will be an Ascalan dragon.   Forster dragons same as humans   Young Krystian dragons are assigned in relationships for children though this is considered normal and there is no real need for emotional connections to be a part of this. Any other more emotional relationship is allowed though they have to ask an elder for permission to try to have children.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Common and dragons do speak draconic though this has mostly fallen out of fashion even by the dragons themselves.

Common Etiquette Rules

Krystian dragons consider names sacred and the name they are known as shows a lot with relationships with somebody.   Ascalan dragons don't care about others at all but they try not to actively seek to take land from other dragons.   Forster dragons consider it rude to comment on what they see in others souls.

Common Dress Code

Kristian and Ascalan dragons do not wear clothing, but Forster dragons almost always do except for a few fringe groups who are trying to embrace their inner beasts.

Common Myths and Legends

The dragons have multiple stories and legends about the dragons of old who were more powerful than the current dragons. In nature they were one with the universe, but society was poison to them and as other species flourished they withered. Eventually their children started to adapt to the new world, but even with their body now different their souls are still of a similar structure of those ancient powerful creatures who once roamed the wilds.   The Ascalan dragons are usually attributed with the giving over of the masks that the people of Ascala wear   Forster dragons are considered a sibling species to humans though the dragon remember their true origins   Krytian dragons are usually portrayed in stories to have a personality matching the opinion the teller has for their element for example a light dragon aiding heroes and a sin dragon helping the villains.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Is possible though not common except for Forster dragons who are just as likely to form a relationship with a human then a dragon.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Krystian dragons coloring depend upon which element they are naturally part of.   Ascalan dragons are either silver, black, gold or some mix of those colors.   Forster dragons are duller colors like earth brown or a deeper shade of red.
