Master Stone

A master stone is pure andesine. It is an organic material similar to the more common andesite, which sending stones are typically made from. Andesine is a rare gemstone, usually found as small pebbles, but several master stones have been found, the largest of which weighs nearly 75 pounds. This stone is used for information storage and transmission at the Oakwood Institute in Oakwald. Other Learner's Guild locations also contain a master stone, and each are attuned to one another, creating a single storage network.   Master stones naturally emit a signal at a specific inaudible resonance. These signals are sheilded by rock, making natural master stones hard to find. Once excavated, a single stone's signal range can be hundreds of miles. After discovering a tribe of Kenku that had been using one such stone to store memories, the Learner's Guild purchased one for study. The results of that study showed that an attuned individual can store all sorts of information in the form of images and text. Not only that, but the attuned individual can also retrieve that informationn at will, so long as they are within signal range.   The Oakwarld Institute has since developed Knowledge Orbs of Infinite Resources (KOIR,) which are smaller manmade gemstones that can retrieve information from the master stone network for the user, without the user having been attuned to a master stone. The user of a KOIR is one-directional, and the user may only receive data that has been stored.
A master stone will be connected to copper conduits plunged deep into the ground. This improves the range of the signal.
