Wyldpater

Wyldpater (a.k.a. Pater (Father), Wyldlord)

Patron o' Forests Children, Pater to all wild things

An old saying tells of an entity who grazed the rolling, green hills and woods of Capra Copse in ancient times, long before men. The creature holds a strong status in elven myths, but is mostly regarded as that: a myth. An unknown entity who blessed the world for a time being before moving on, like so many do in Taurua. However, the mysterious forestfolk of Capra Copse have turned the tales of Wyldpater into a near-religion. Asking for their ancient creator-lord and king of all wild things to bless their harvest and homesteads.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Different fauna with proud horns that usually wouldn't have horns are often associated with Wyldpater. As are symbols of gracious animals that yet have manes or capes of feather growing from their neck.

Tenets of Faith

While divided in small matters or views on the myth of Wyldpater, monasteries built to honor him all follow a simple law of hospitality, and while each monstery and abbey has their own emphasis on different parts of the law of hospitality, they all welcome creatures regardless of race or background as long as those creatures are of no threat to the monasteries themselves. There, they are fed and any wounds they have suffered are healed.
Outside of this, communities following the teachings of Wyldpater are most often humble, preserving their numbers and keeping the growth of their community at a check. Never to reproduce or spread further than they need, not even in the heat of love. This has lead to many of Wyldpaters communities being small and distant, but yet incredibly homely and welcoming. Small little paradises dotting the woods of Capra Copse.

Holidays

Each abbey built to honor the Wyldpater celebrates their "founding day". It is widely believed that these abbeys were personally visited by Wyldpater on days they were founded, and his most devout followers have high hopes of him perhaps returning if they celebrate with enough joy and joviality. Others try to lure Wyldpater back by saving a seat for him at every party, while some send out invitations in attempts to hold the largest party the realm has ever seen, making sure that no-one leaves empty bellied. Yet, as grand as these demonstrations are, there have been no sightings of Wyldpater.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

General myths surrounding Wyldpater describe the creature as an unqiue entity rather than belonging to any race. Often told to hold the shapes of multiple beasts to form its body, the Wyldlord is said to be a towering, hulking creature whose horns gently brush the roof of the forest. Tales and legends of the exact form of Wyldpater differ, some declaring the creature to have the face of a goat and the beak of a sparrow. Others claim Wyldpater to have canine features, together with horns and a lush mane like that ofa wild lion.

Special abilities

In myths, Wyldpater creates his own court and his own, albeit small, kingdom. This kingdom is however brought to ruin over the course of many centuries as Wyldpater eventually abandons his children to govern their own hamlets and realms. This abandonement is often used as a creation myth for the various creatures inhabiting Capra Copse and each realm therein has their own version on what exactly happened.
