Deepburrow

Home of Clan Deargmane

Home of one of the more mysterious and wise dwarven clans. Clan Daergmane offered their assistance according to an ancient legend, meaning that most of the dwarves living in the Old Godivan area are descendants of the clan known to outsiders mainly for their lush, red hair and mystical knowledge in the occult and dark mysteries. Lesserly adept in mechanical constructs and even less focused in mining without a purpose (construction, exploration, reconstruction etc.), dwarves of Claen Daergmane most share a pragmatic mind.

Demographics

Like other dwarven cities, only dwarves are allowed to inhabit the underground passageways for long. At most, a handful of diplomats can be found in quarters where they are to stay for most of their visit.
Dwarves of Deepburrow share a deep interest and understanding of history - In fact, such a long is their fascination that they are often referred to by other dwarvish clans as "Paledwarves" for their unhealthy habits in shifting through old catacombs and studying old tomes. In Deepburrow one finds students of history, scholars of the occult and even capable mages who have studied in the dwarven way of "Geamheart". Studying and practising the arcane together, but in the end finding their own ways and specialisations.

Government

Clan Daergmane is led by a King, as is tradition in dwarven clans. However, in the inner workings of the clan their king means less and less and the clan is slowly moving closer to following their council solely as the clans council provides experts on many different fields, that better manage at unifying the clans voice and goals.

Industry & Trade

Most valuable asset Clan Daergmane has is knowledge - And in that, very specific knowledge. As dedicated learners of history, it is rumored that clan Daergmane is better suited and much more aware of elven history than even the elves themselves. In addition to this, the rare explorers of Clan Daergmane often compile what they have seen of the outside world and other cultures into various tomes that can be used in cross-referencing their mysterious findings underground.

Districts

Much of Deepburrows is unknown to the rest of the world, even to the diplomats who visit these dwarven halls. To the knowledge of those who have visited the halls, there are two sections to the labyrinthine city:
The Heartburrow - Upper districts of the city, directly connected to a mountainside leading to Old Godivan. This is where all of the shops and most of the living quarters are found. Most daily commerse, parties and business is dealt here. The Digs - According to an ancient saying of Clan Daergmane "Everything has a reason!", and this applies to their own city. Rumored to be the site of an ancient elven land long since abandoned even by the rare high elves who were not keen on departing their homes, Clan Daergmane has had a reason to deep ever so deeper. Are they searching for chambers of yore? Discovering new techniques of reaching deeper and deeper halls?
