Succession of the Soul

Souls are nurtured in stars, black holes are formed by a critical mass of restless souls. --To figure out, if ghosts are restless souls, how are they still visible in the normal existance. Perhaps ghosts are trapped souls, unable to go to the stars, but retlestless souls are those that can't rest. Stuck in a limbo between states, where the ghost form is anchored to existance.   Rhaul bypass the resting period and compound rapidly, evolving their knowledge, tendencies and power by on death, forcing their soul into a new vessel.   Though normally contained within a phylactery like device which traps the soul, when this device is damaged the soul of a Rhaul may escape, returning to the stars, and back to it's natural cycle.   This creates a dynamic, almost like a symbiote, where the wild nature of a soul may not be the nature of the soul in the vessel. Like a self hating drunk, one may be stuck in a loop of pain and harm, 'deep down' may want to escape their nature in their soul, but only consciously know how to do what they hate.
Souls are cyclical and have endless lives across many individual vessels.

Manifestation

When you are born, when your vessel first breaths, it draws in the breath of life, your soul, into the vessel.   Upon death, your soul returns to the void, to rest. This cycle repeats, and souls tend to resonate as to where they have been before and hold a form of memory within.   This memory, or imprint, will affect the new life, and it is up to the circumstances and events of a life that helps form and forge the soul. Indulging in cruelty for example, would compound upon itself twisting the personality and leaning with each life the soul's new vessel into a cruel personality, not irreversible, but desperately difficult to change.
