The Embercleave, AKA The Fireshrieker

Historical Basis

The Embercleave is a legendary weapon from during the first battles aganist the Cataclyst. It was forged from a rare magic gem called "The Red Ruby of Aja". It is a massive greatsword that has a ruby blade and an ornate gold handle, with designs of warriors carved in its hilt. Its legendary power was wielded by Syr Gwen, Hero of Ashvale. With her help, the heroes of Tarkir pushed back the menace of the Cataclyst Monsters, and it was Syr Gwen who sacrificed herself to enter the Cataclyst, killing whatever was inside it at the cost of her life. The blade never found, but stories have been of told of many who saw the blade flying from the exploding Cataclyst towards the Demon Spire Mountains.
