The Crooked Tower

No one knows how the Crooked Tower came to exist. And there is no known magic in the known world to explain how it still stands, or how it moves. The tower is constructed in such a way that it is the nightmare of dwarves and any other sensible architect. Each floor being of varying sizes and shapes, and no where near stacked neatly. One floor could have a footprint of 20 feet by 20 feet, and the floor above it can have a footprint of 150 feet by 150 feet, while being stacked in such a way that it only connects to the floor below in the far corner. What's more, is that each floor of the tower displays an entirely unique style of architecture from those that came before, with one floor being constructed from sturdy stone, while the next appears to be made out of straw.   The only thing that is clear about the tower, is that it is a trial. A test of all who enter. Once you are inside the tower, there is no obvious way out. And for those who have made it out, have stated that it seems to go on towards infinity. No two accounts from inside the tower are the same. Some have found the tower in the deserts of Denmoor... Others have found the tower in the Time-Worn Jungle... And others still in the plains of Wlamyr... There are even stories of it being found on the ocean floor. There is always combat, riddles, puzzles, and other challenges. And with each floor ascended, you find you can not retreat back down. The only way through is up. Some accounts, given to us by adventuring parties, tell about how they have used all their resources, energy, and magic just to beat the creatures of the floor, just for the to have everything spent, back in their bags as they ascended to the next. It wasn't until they all were struck down that they found themselves outside the tower in a completely different location from where they entered.   There are those who have tried to unravel the mysteries of the crooked tower, just to go insane from the maddening number of plausible explanations, all of which defy confirmation.
