Syklov

Syklov people are generally tall, lean and pale, although the upper classes are often tanned. They tend to have freckles, red or brown hair and blue or green eyes. They tend to be naturally flexible and to have high metabolisms.   The people of Syklov come from a magical forest land. They are generally very closely connected with the Gods but are elitist by extension, believing themselves to be spiritually superior to other races. Their nation is naturally defended and nearly impossible to invade successfully and so they may also feel untouchable.   Syklov people are very classist, especially in Avanagard. There is a degree of classism in the other cities in the country but it is to a regular extent, whereas the classes in Avangard have their housing segregated vertically. The higher classes live in the higher layers of the city and so often see sunlight and are tanned, whereas the lower classes are pale, sickly and even vitamin D deficient. This makes class differences easily distinguishable.   When a Syklov person dies, their body is traditionally thrown down to the forest floor on the first Hazath after their death, where they are devoured by the Sykitors. Funeral attire is traditionally of very thin white cloth that is loosely draped over the body. It is typically worn without undergarments, allowing for a full view of the naked body underneath. If this attire is not worn, it is seen as very disrespectful and possibly as a sign of secrecy or betrayal.   According to Syklov tradition, adulthood begins at the age of 16, at which time the new adult is given a title or name that describes their strongest characteristic after undergoing certain rite of passage rituals. These rituals often include climbing or acrobatic feats, scarification or tests of wit. People are afterward distinguished by these titles or names. In Syklov, a national pride and identity is heavily encouraged, and so it is unusual to meet a Syklov person who distinguishes themselves based upon their hometown, although they may include their family when introducing themselves.   Traditional Syklov weapons were generally light, so that they were easy to carry while climbing through the forest. They had long swords which could split into two shorter swords, which could hang from their belts. They favored ranged weapons, including spears and bows, and specialize in guerilla warfare.
