Phystokovlik nation

After Syklov conquered Phystokovlik, the cultures of the region were smooshed together and unified under the nation title of "Phystokovlik," after the first tribe the foreigners encountered. The Syklov language and religion was forced upon the people.
During the First Syklov Empire, Phystokovlik was known for its outlaw gangs and small tribes. Syklov influence was significant in the main towns and cities, but decreased in rural areas. Especially as the Empire expanded, illegal gangs and tribes continued a modified version of the old way of life. Some of these groups had fixed land and some were nomadic, but nearly all attained resources through raiding villages and occasionally other tribes, a necessary evil after much of their land was stolen from them. Most groups, but not all (especially not the outlaw gangs, who often consisted of criminals with various backgrounds), were deeply religious and often had magic users among their ranks, or harbored persecuted magic users.
After the fall of the First Syklov Empire, Phystokovlik fell under the control of Fallrin for some years, and then under the control of Hundran. A few years of independence were ended by the rise of the Second Syklov Empire.
By the time they were conquered by the Second Syklov Empire, the people of Phystokovlik had developed a rather unified culture, which prioritized "looking out for one's own," wealth, family, work and technological development. There wasn't much nationalism when Syklov conquered the nation, but years of mismanagement led to its development.
During the Independence Wars, Phystokovlik became split in two between an independent Phystokovlik (West) and a Syklov-controlled Phystokovlik (East). The west began to quickly develop technologically and to restore their ruined economy after gaining independence with the help of Fallrin, who sought to exact influence over the region. A capitalistic economy and a culture prioritizing personal wealth and development became dominant. In the east, famine due to collective farming methods and dilapidation due to the economy's continuing decline created a hardened people who could withstand much suffering. Crime, drug use and alcoholism became commonplace, further exasperated by the destruction of many families during the wartime. There was little compassion amongst the people, but a strong sense of communal identity developed and similar criminal gangs to those of the First Syklov Empire's period were formed.
