Shan
A land that was once thriving with beauty was cursed by Perderaes the destroyer which caused the once-living Shan to become a vast desert and out of Gaia's control (this does not include Gaia's influence prior to the curse e.g. the seasonal changes). Since Gaia was unable to come in contact with Shan her message of peace was never able to be delivered. Therefore, Shan's culture became separated from the rest of the world even leading them to have their own distinctive religion Shanism.
Religion
The core religion of this country is shanish but there was a point in time when Syhism was introduced and many people began to question their beliefs but later on, syhism became illegal to practice.
