Drekstett

Demographics

Along with the twin cities of the Kuen, Drekstett is one of few truly metropolitan cities on the coast, due both in part to its strategic position between Sachan and Kenirr, but also its reputation of being impregnable, leading to people from even eastern Sachan and Southern Kenirr having fled to the city during the wars and even before the war (though it was more then due to opportunities). It also has a small Orcish minority due to its close distance to nearby Orcish mining settlements and some Dwarfs due to how close it is to Obrirun. However, its biggest minority comes from Tefaran due to its original settlement as a regimental city by the Second Empire. It is this population, intermingled with the locals in a mix of Tefarani and Kenirrik culture and blood that is labeled, mostly by Kenirrik outsiders and in a hostile tone, as Drekanik, that serves as the elite of the city and a sizable minority. While the majority is the Kenirrik and Sachani.

Defences

Positioned on the pass between Sachan and Kenirr, Drekstett was made to be as defensible as possible and that it has succeeded with, resulting in the city boasting, still to this day, to have never fallen to outsider armies. To begin with it has two large reinforced walls, one newer of Dwarven construction on the outside and an older one made by the Second Empire. Both walls are heavily warded by spells and the magic is often refueled to make sure the ward does not "fizzle out". There are also rumored to be several tunnels beneath the city going both north and south to smuggle resources if the city would be under siege, but its primary proud defense are two things.   One, the Imperial School of Shielding and Anti Magic. A massive and old Second Empire institution as well as the best educational establishment for abjuration in Tannar and possibly the world.   Two, the Spires. These massive thin, tower like structures can be seen all across the city with some being up to 200 meters, reinforced with wards all along them they were also constructed by the Second Empire and all though the incantation is difficult, there is one for activating a magical barrier all around the city utilizing these spires as conduits for it. They also seem almost completely indestructible resulting in the ability to create a failsafe protective bubble around the city in the matter of hours. However, little is known among the spires as even in Second Empire architecture they are uncommon and so use of them is often seen as a last measure, one time this was known to have happened was the Dark Invasion, something that kept the city safe throughout the war, albeit many starved.
