Bermarr
History
Bermarr is a noble title created in 1314 by Kenon as a way to incentivize adventurers and mercenaries to settle the more rugged mountains by giving titles of nobility to those who clear a significant portion of land in these harsh landscapes. A Bermarr controls a Berken which is one of the lowest noble titles.
Cultural Significance
Bermarrs are often despised by other local nobility as being false nobility or upstarts, believing that granting the nobility this easily dillutes the respect the nobility has. While this was originally true, over time and especially with the civil war making many of non noble blood, de facto nobility the Bermarrs generally secure position has made them a part of the old nobility if a bit more impoverished.
