Change
Inevitable Advance
(a.k.a. Promena, Byeonhwa, Sui'ga, or Henkasu)
There is little that is certain in life, but one thing that looms above our heads is change. Progress. The world will never be static, especially with the bounty of magic accelerating invention every day. This is neither good nor bad, but we must be vigilant against a reckless charge into the unknown.Change was one of the second set of deities to take shape in the universe, coalescing alongside Magic and becoming a driving force behind Magic’s ambitions to bring new life into the universe. It was ultimately Change’s idea to test Magic’s boundless power, though the consequences of this recklessness hang above both of them. Despite this, Change is best remembered as what drives the spark of creativity in each human soul. Every innovation that humans have wrought, whether for good or ill, has come from the gift of Change in them all. Followers of Change are often in charge of entire tribes or cities, serving leadership roles. Merchants and those who create or explore often pay homage to him, and those taken by gambling pray for Change to turn their fortunes around. Change is most dangerous when his worship is paired with that of Death or War and the fundamental ambitions of man are turned toward the manufacture of weapons or destructive magic. For each benevolent invention, there is a terrible machination born from the mind of a tyrant; each of these has the same source, a neutral observer that feels nothing but the push to move forward. Change is often depicted as male or androgynous, alongside Magic for they are seen as two sides of the same coin. Seemingly devoid of expression or identifying features, Change is often a silhouette more than a depiction, standing in the shadow of Magic with its unblinking gaze turned toward the future.
Divine Domains
Change clearly presides over change, progress, and civilization. On the more abstract side, it presides over creativity and thought, time, and free will or agency.
Its suggested cleric domains are the Forge, Knowledge and Order Domains.
