The Missing Sword

This short sword is made of iron and is usually found rusted and dull. It was originally a gift from a mage to his adventuring son. The mage intended to bless the sword with a magical power but knowing the importance of confidence emboldened his son to face his first encounter without the aid of magic.
Alas, his first encounter was his last. In his anger and sorrow, the mage cursed the sword wanting it to never succeed in any battle and for those that would attempt to wield it to know his pain.
Needless to say, this sword has been left behind many times.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

When attuned, you gain a -2 bonus to attack and a -1 bonus to damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Once a creature weilds this sword or attunes to it, they are afflicted by its curse. Following any rest where the sword is within 15 feet of the creature of if the creature has line of sight to the sword, deal 2d10 force damage.
