Rasaz

The mighty, the terrible, Rasaz is a god among gods. He is depicted as towering over both Nyanomen and Somiti, and nearly twice as broad of shoulder as Nayanomen. He is the drive and thirst for violence giving way to battle, the sound of blood splattering across sand, and the raging inferno born of a desert town put to the torch. Despite his penchant for pure destruction, Rasaz is not the embodiment of death, merely an instrument of its deliverance. He is also the heart of the campfire that staves off the cold of the desert at night, and the strength in the sword arms protecting one’s homeland. He is the pinnacle of martial perfection, and the warmth of a lover’s embrace.   Rasaz is always depicted as a bare chested warrior wielding a sickle-like sword, its blade on fire. His other arm holds a large shield with a rounded top and flat bottom. He rides a black Arabian warhorse which leaves a trail of blazing fire in his wake. His symbol is a flaming sickle-sword.   Temples to Rasaz are more accurately described as compounds, with barracks full of warriors training for military and religious service alike. In previous ages, these armies were hired by local kings and lords when wartime came and belonged solely to the church, acting as divine mercenaries, but since the establishment of the Empire, most of the warriors trained by the clergy of Rasaz become members of the Empire’s military, either as a specialized force or as officers. It is for this reason that the orders dedicated to Rasaz are most closely tied to the government and of the three old faiths, the most loyal to the government, ensuring that a unified front between the churches against the government is unlikely to be successful… or at least unlikely to be easily accomplished.   Clergy to Rasaz wear white, with their armor decorated in bronze and fire opals of various shades ranging from pale yellow to deep, vivid red. They all carry a sickle sword on their hip and a kit for starting a fire. Offerings to Rasaz are typically arms and armor, or bonfires around which the common folk dance and sing in a show of devotion.
