Queendom of Tellach

At the base of a mountain, the top of which disappears into the clouds, a mighty gateway is carved directly into the rock. Though a large town has sprung up around this gateway, the half-ring of large stone pillars carved with intricate designs and ancient runes convey a message anyone can understand:   Here you enter the halls of the dwarves. Here you walk the Queen’s Road.   The Queen’s Road, also known as the Hearth Road, is a grand stone walkway leading through the heart of the mountain halls of the kingdom of Tellach. Within the mountain, Ever-burning braziers line the roads, and homes and businesses carved from the same stone the mountain is comprised of make up the wealthy, welcoming queendom run by Queen Fealmid, head of Clan Ó Baoighill. Tellach’s people are a lively, friendly bunch, though stubborn and proud to a fault.   Along the Queen’s Road, the Queen’s Peace is kept, and any caught breaking it are punished severely by the people of Tellach, though those who strive to enforce the peace are often celebrated by locals. Foremost to the people of Tellach is one’s personal honor, a concept that means far more to them than it does to most in Talav Mor.   Society in Tellach is predicated upon three concepts: Loyalty, Hospitality, and Bravery.   Though their Queendom has not fought in many full wars, they are the keepers of Talav Mor’s primary trade routes, and they face the armies of the Underdark on a frequent enough basis that they have honed their collective martial might as a people.   Though it is difficult to determine where one “city” begins and ends within the halls of the Tellach, the center of the capital city is clearly marked by a wide, rounded pillar standing ten feet tall. It is etched with the names of former Queens of Tellach, and each time a new Queen is crowned, a new name is added to the pillar in ancient dwarven runes. Skalds tell tales of the stone singing when touched by the hand of the true heir to the Tellach throne.   The Queendom’s roads are many and twisting, and an unwary traveler could very well find themselves wandering too far off the beaten path until they find themselves in long empty halls or standing over the remains of ancient battles. Worse still, they could find themselves wandering into a forgotten pathway leading into the depths of the Underdark.
