Personal history

At the age of 15, Neros enrolled in the Academy of the Imperial Guard in Carenwick. During the two years of training, he was taught how to fight and a few different languages common throughout the empire.
A year after his graduation at 17, during a patrol at night, he was drawn to a nearby bridge where he confronted what turned out to be a slave trader attempting to kidnap one of Carenwick's citizens. Neros attempted to stop them, but was instead knocked unconscious and taken captive.
When he awake, he was in a locked room and could only the sounds of people yelling and cheering. When the doors finally opened, he realized that he was in a coliseum. He did his best to follow the only instructions given to him by the fight master - "fight to live."
After a short time in the coliseum, Neros realized that the gladiators that "died" in combat weren't actually killed - the crowd was being deceived and the fighters were being freed after "winning" their freedom. After 5 long years, Neros finally won his freedom, acquiring the scar across his chest and "dying" within the ring.
Neros was blindfolded and loaded into a wagon, where he was dropped off in the middle of nowhere south of the empire. Lost, starving, and alone, he wandered for a full day before he came across another wanderer - a lone woman with short-cut black hair and gleaming plate armor. She had youthful features and worked together with Neros to guide him to safety. When finally he glimpsed Tarry Town, he fell unconscious from the time in the wilderness. When he awoke, he was in an unfamiliar room and the woman who helped him was nowhere to be found.
