Dragons are deadly things, and its easy to forget with how pretty they are, that those of dragon's blood are also equally deadly things.

Magical, only effected by those who are bonded with a dragon.

Causes

In a moment of extreme emotional distress the bond between rider and dragon deepens until it blurs and the dragon experiences the rage and pain of the rider, and the rider experiences the dragon's ruthlessness.

Symptoms

Increased strength, skin hot enough to burn, and a deep unquenchable rage which will be turned on both friend and foe alike.

Treatment

The treatment for the dragon is time, however, the rider can be cured after the initial burst of madness by being kept in a dark room away from all fire and their dragon for a week, followed by contact with someone of sound mind who shares an emotional or blood tie to the individual.

Prognosis

First the skin grows hot, then there is the burst of rage which can last from an hour to a year.

Sequela

The dragon and its rider will grow stronger as a result but after they will be forever prone to bouts of madness. Depending on how well the treatment takes they may or may no be able to fight off further occurrences.

Affected Groups

Dragon-Bonded from Vaeln alone, the other riders do not experience such a deep bond which keeps them from being so susceptible.

Dread Gaeryth is the most well documented case of the disease. Before it was a rumor outside of the Dragon's Eye, in Dragon's Eye it was whispered into the ear of every one who ever bonded with a red dragon.
