Nurrathan
The Nurrathans are a subspecies of humans that evolved on the planet Nurrath, in the Co System, that began its separation sometime around 1000 BDL, at the tail end of the Aulyssian Expansion. They are notable for having an innate resistance to radiation, as a result of adapting to an unexpectedly hostile planet.
Others will still serve as ordinary soldiers or enforcers because of the benefit given by the light armor they naturally possess, and this will usually signal to denizens of Passe-Rath that a Nurrathan has grown past their "barbaric heritage" and wants to become a productive citizen.
Nurrathans, like all humans, are able to manifest psionic abilities, but researchers have noticed that it is slightly more rare than in the baseline human species.
Biology
Nurrathans are mostly similar to humans, but with a few notable differences. First, they are resistant to the effects of lingering radiation. However, their prolonged exposure to radiation over the course of their evolution has changed their biology to be significantly more different than most other human subspecies that evolved while away from Passe-Rath. The skin on their forearms, shins, shoulders, and neck covers numerous small bumps, like permanent goosebumps, that bristle into a cone-like structure similar to spikes when flexed. They have adapted to the scarcity of food on their planet by evolving a much hardier appetite, with stomachs able to break down and digest even solid bone into nutrients. This is on account of their highly potent stomach acid, which is one of the strongest acids in the galaxy.Service within IRUS
Though there is great stigma against Nurrathans because of the infamous Talitanic War, some Nurrathans are recruited into IRUS as small exploring squads specifically assigned to the Ruined Moon of Extinguished Light on account of their radiation resistance. They are underpaid, still discriminated against, and many don't return from the moon, but many Nurrathans who wish to escape their barren planet will sign on in order to gain a foothold into Passe-Rath or the rest of the universe.Others will still serve as ordinary soldiers or enforcers because of the benefit given by the light armor they naturally possess, and this will usually signal to denizens of Passe-Rath that a Nurrathan has grown past their "barbaric heritage" and wants to become a productive citizen.

The Talitanic Legion
Nurrathans first made themselves known to Passe-Rath when, in 967 BDL, giant warships containing legions of bloodthirsty Nurrathan warriors landed on the Kriiaska Plains and declared war on the entire planet and all its people for leaving them to suffer on a desolate planet for close to seventy years. The following conflict was known as the Talitanic War and was a period of great destruction and bloodshed, where one megacity was destroyed and several others came close. At the defeat of their leader, Talitan the Conqueror, they were exiled back to their planet and have only started integrating into galactic society within the last century or so. Despite around a thousand years passing since the war, the destruction is still fresh in the memories and history books of the people of Passe-Rath, and Nurrathans face great stigma on the planet.Remove these ads.
