Roamer

The roaming bands of Dosys that travel the harsh climate of Southern Enthar, are known colloquially as the Roamers. A nomadic group, they have no permanent settlement, and merely roam where the resources require them to. As one of the few people to explore and survive in the vast inhospitable landscape of Southern Enthar, their discoveries are highly valued in Almusia, Tinobi and Nalys. The Roamers are the only people to harvest the elusive plant known as Nilkant, and create the numbing tincture (known as Niltincture) highly valued by non-magehealers.

Family names

Like most on Syshir, the Roamers don't have family names. Whereas those in Almusia and the Enthar Empire take professions as part of their name, and those living in Tinobi are known by location, Roamers aren't known by anything other than their first name, or "Roamer".

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Roamers speak the language of Do, that most Dosys in Southern Enthar speak.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

Beyond childbirth, Roamer's have no differentiation between gender when it comes to tribe roles. Whoever is best suited to the task required, regardless of gender, is the Roamer that will do the job. If a mother or father is required to hunt or scout, needed to tan or shape a new item, another Roamer with nothing to do will take over watching over a child without hesitation.

Courtship Ideals

Being chosen as a mate is a matter of pride for most Roamers. It means that they have proved themselves, and their genes, as strong enough to value carrying on. This "choosing" mostly falls into the hands of female Roamers, as pregnancy will take them out of commission for a few months at least. They decide that having offspring is worth the temporary loss of their talent. As such, many Roamers never mate. Children are few and far between in the roaming bands, and they don't stay young and inexperienced for long. Necessity breeds maturity in the Roamer bands.
