Lord Oren , of Killaren

Born the sixth of the sons and daughters of Lord Corwen and Lady Rosha of Killaren, the slightly older twin to his brother Leanter, Oren is the most reserved of the thirteen children.

Physical Description

General Physicality

While not as bulky or heavily muscled as some of his other siblings, Oren is a toned, lean man, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist.

Facial Features

Face in a perpetual expression of disinterest or distaste, Oren shares many of his features with his siblings. Dark brown hair that curls ever-so-slightly when grown out long enough, the bronzed skin of his father is slightly paler than some of his other siblings that spend more time naturally tanning in the sun, and the brown eyes shared with around half of his brothers and sisters, and their father. Quite opposite, to that of his fraternal twin Leanter, who inherited their mother's looks. A cupid's bow mouth often tilted down in a frown, Oren also has a strong aquiline nose.

Apparel & Accessories

Enjoying representing what is 'expected' from a shadowmage, Oren wears a lot of black. Quietly, he just looks dang good in black and it's easy to choose clothes if everything is the same colour. He is a little bit of a clothes horse, enjoying well-made, well-fitted, and often expensive attire.

Magic

Oren is a shadowmage. His affinity with the shadow allows him to be one with shadow and darkness, able to physically change his form to that of semi or entirely non-corporeal to travel amongst shadow. While having a powerful ability to manipulate shadow, able to draw heavily from the aether, as well as his own average-sized well of magic, Oren has a limited ability to manipulate the aether in ways that don't relate to shadow (and eventually light). At current, Oren's ability to become shadow flares out of his control at moments of great emotion, and a not-so-small part of him fears that one day he may not be able to come back to a solid form if he cannot get to grips with his magic and the aether.

Education

As with all the Killaren siblings, Oren spent much of his youth under the tutelage of private educators, particularly so when he started to exhibit signs of a magical ability like his older siblings. Unlike some of the others, however, Oren traveled to the Ashon Academy to further his magical studies in his early 20s. His intent was to better understand and control his affinity with shadow, and while he was of interest to the academy, and his ability was studied, he didn't quite gain the control he desired. The research, experiments, and experiences he had within Ashon in fact made his connection with shadow stronger and harder to control. Oren returned to Killaren after four years at the Academy.

Sexuality

Although Syshir doesn't have as many labels to discern sexuality as modern-Earth, Oren would most likely be considered on the pansexual scale. However, recent events attempting to control his magic have made him rather averse to physical touch and companionship.

Social Status

As the brother of Lord Cadelan of Killaren, Oren is often referred to as a 'Lord' by those of lesser rank than himself as a form of respectful address. He does not technically hold a Lordship or any title that would grant him such.
As sixth child, and his eldest siblings marrying ahead of him, Oren is far removed from the line of succession, and has no reason to believe he would inherit Killaren.
