Long Nights and Sleepless Days
October 16th, 1997

Y'know, folks often say that the road to Hell is paved in good intentions, and to be frank with it, everything's been going to Hell in a handbasket ever since some leech we were hunting got me some 2 months ago. Woke up one day to find myself with an aching headache in response to sunlight, a new appetite of sorts, and new nagging devil sitting on my shoulder. That ain't even the worst part though, can hardly find time to sleep most days, and the sleep I do get, it ain't peaceful. Most of the time its the usual suspects, nightmares, of the war, the things that I saw, things that I've done. But recently I've been dreaming of something else entirely, something more abstruse, and its far worse. I dream that I'm staring down at thousands of people packed together like sardines, I watch them scream in agony as some horrid specter tears them apart over, and over again in some kind of fucked up action replay in a never ending abyss. Most nights, the faces are of strangers, people I've never seen or met before, but their faces are far too detailed to be a product of memory or imagination. And some nights... I can recognize some of the faces down there, and they belong to people who ain't here anymore.   I think... I think I saw Hell. Even worse... I have a feeling that I might be headed there soon.
