Blast Shadow

Adapted From Blast Shadow-d20PFSRD https://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/undead/blast-shadow/
A smoking amalgam of fire and shadow

Causes

Blast shadows usually spawn as the result of a magical catastrophe, but can also be artificially created. Pyromaniac magic users, worshipers of evil fire deities, and the servants of powers that crave burnt offerings favor these undead horrors. A spellcaster of 14th level or higher can create a blast shadow using create undead. In addition to the normal components of the spell, the spellcaster must use the body of a creature that died as a result of a fire spell or effect. The spell must be one that affects an area. Scorching ray is not sufficient, but fireball is. The creature must have died within 24 hours of the casting of create undead. Blast shadows created in this way are loyal to their creator, but those created by a death burst are beholden to no one.

Special Attacks:

A Blast shadow loses all special attacks that require corporeal contact but gains those described here. A blast shadow cannot cast spells that require material components unless it has the Eschew Materials feat.
  • Cloud of Smoke and Fire- A blast shadow can, as a free action, surround itself with a cloud of smoke that burns living flesh. While active, the blast shadow gains concealment, and all living creatures within 5 feet take 1d6 points of fire damage per round. If the blast shadow takes any cold damage, this cloud is dispelled and cannot be renewed for 1d6 rounds.
  • Create SpawnAny creature with a Charisma score of 15 or higher that is killed by a blastt shadow rises as a burst shadow in 1d4 rounds. Any other creature slain by a burst shadow instead rises as a normal shadow. A blast shadow or shadow created in this manner is under the command of its creator (as dominate monster) and remains so until either it or the creator is destroyed.
  • Death Burst When a blast shadow is reduced to 0 or fewer hit points, it explodes in a blast of flame. All creatures within 30 feet take 5d6 points of fire damage. A DC 18 Reflex save results in half damage. The save DC is Charisma-based.

  • Abilities: Dex +4, Int -4, Wis +2, Cha +4. As an incorporeal creature, a dread shadow lacks a Strength score, and as an undead creature, it has no Constitution score. If the base creature’s Intelligence is reduced below 1 by application of its template, it becomes mindless, loses all skill points and feats, and has no Intelligence score.
  • Skills: A dread shadow gains a +4 Stealth bonus in dim light and a -4 Stealth penalty in bright light.

Special Qualities

The blast shadow retains all the base creature’s special qualities that do not require corporeal contact with another creature, and it gains those described here.
  • Shadow Slip- At will, a blast shadow can use dimension door as the spell (caster level 7th) as a move action. It must move from a place of darkness or shadow to another place or darkness or shadow within line of sight. Using this ability does not provoke an attack of opportunity.
