Ivaur
Intelligent moth-like creatures born on an eternally-dim moon. Creators of advanced artificial life, like organic spacecraft.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Vaguely buglike. Sections of hard carapace and softer skin. Four wings and six limbs.
Ecology and Habitats
Only capable of flight in low gravity, but otherwise adaptable, especially with technological help. Prefer dry environments.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Originally carnivorous and incapable of subsisting on plants, but early biotechnology created symbiotic microbes to digest plant matter.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
Sentient
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Six eyes adapted for flight- Two main eyes on their head give broad but imprecise vision, while four "hunting eyes" on their neck are more precise in a limited cone, once used for searching land below as they flew.
Large feathery antennas give more sense of air currents and conditions for flight, and somewhat limited hearing.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
Important in Abyssal Sphere
Average Technological Level
Advanced biotechnology and medicine
FTL communications
Common Dress Code
Varies by ancestry, but nearly always involves covered faces/mouths- Their organs are not laid out how terragens usually guess.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

History
Until fairly recently (decades before first spaceflight) they lived very short lives and were susceptible to genetic disorder. Complex and large family structures stabilized reproduction rates and carried goals/ideals further than one individual's short lifetime.
The world (and system) they inhabit is very mineral-poor. Lack of metals slowed initial technological growth, and limited spaceflight. With little to build ships from, the other moons and planets in their system were colonized carefully with ark-ships.
These settlements thrived for centuries, with some conflict being confined to the system. Early discoverers of hyperspace communications- Contact, but not physical meeting with other species established the Abyssal Sphere.
The Ivaur discovered Star-minds independently. Godtech help sped up their biotechnology, eventually to the point of building living starships, capable of FTL travel.
Lifespan
20-30 years "naturally", 150-250 with basic modern medicine
