Rincoren Tattoo Magic

Tattoo magic is a Rincoren creation where Words of Power can be tattooed into a sapient being. The magical effect must be studied and understood by both the tattooer (artist) and the receiver (canvas). Both the artist and the canvas must focus on the magical spell/ability to be gained while the tattoo is created (this often requires extra study for the canvas if they are unfamiliar with the spell). A single tattoo will usually be created over multiple sessions. Each tattoo creates diminishing returns on regular spell-casting but can create potentially stronger results at often lower costs.   It is an intensive process that requires deep meditation and high concentration to achieve successful results. The high cost of materials (both from the rarity and the need for extreme purity) and the high risk of failure increases the cost of creation. Tattoos are impossible to remove outside of cutting out the skin. Any resulting scar and the leftover magical after-effect prevent another tattoo in that area. The diminishing return on regular casting, high cost, permanence, and chance of failure prevent magic tattoos from being common among ordinary people.   It is typically only seen on Combat Mages and specialized workers. Combat Mages will often specialize and go exclusively to tattoo magic, focusing on the ability to command and control any battle scenario while losing the ability to work magic in a syntactic way like others.   Specialized workers will often get just 2-4 tattoos: A tattoo for raising recovery rate (so daily output of magically enhanced work can be increased), and 1 to 3 tattoos to help with the work Spells can include night vision, raising/lowering temperature, fire, water, etc. Combat Mages can have upwards of 20 or more tattoos for specific applications in combat and recovery, but the more tattoo's you have, the harder it is to work regular magic. Some combat mages trade overall utility for the increased speed and reduced cost that tattoos often give.

Manifestation

On the use of an ability/spell, the appropriate tattoo will glow. If any tattoos exist to boost magic generally (threshold/recovery rate boost), those will glow in addition to the tattoo (if a tattoo is being invoked, otherwise alone with regular spell-casting).
