Frankonium

High Concept : Pastoral long running Terraforming Project world
Trouble Aspect : Ruled by a brutal regime that controls most of the technology that makes life here possible
Aspects:
  • Large domed wards dot the polar and sub-polar areas in various states of repair/disrepair
  • Equatorial zone is mostly terraformed to earth standards
  • Lacking a natural atmosphere protective equipment against the surface radiation and air supply is required outside of the equatorial zone or the habitations
Atmosphere: Inert
Climate: Temperate
Biosphere: No Native Biosphere
Population: Several Million (~75M)
Technology Level : TL4

Geography

The poles to down to around the 30th parallel either way are pretty much barren, laden with cosmic silt and craters accumulated from eons of exposure, dotted with some key domed settlements, mostly dedicated to manufacturing and resource extraction, it's handy having little to no atmosphere to trap the noxious gasses produced. During the days of the Planetary League Frankonium was somewhat of a pet project with scientists and exports coming from all corners of the sectors to innovate, however after the regime changed to the Hegemon interest in such long lasting projects has waned at with it the gains made leaving a large collapsed zone of abandoned pilot settlements and dilapidated terraforming equipment bordering the equator and the polar wastes.   Currently most of the exploitation of the planets rich nitrogen and carbon deposits happens in the partially terraformed equatorial zone, thanks to salvaged progenitor technology along with modern science the equatorial zone is almost pleasant, composed primarily of rolling hills and dales. It also has several large manufactured reservoirs and channels for irrigation, some of these tap into the frost laden subsurface aquifers and heat them up to provide some additional water, although it's not particularly clean it's sufficient for agriculture. There are many large plantations and ranches in this area to help feed the populace as well as to provide a small surplus of goods for export.
