Fiercely xenophobic, the Zeta Reticuli does not let any foreigners set foot or even perform scans on their capital planet of Zeta Reticuli Prime.
Rumours about the Zetans are numerous, the most persistent ones ascribing both shapechanging and psionic abilities to them. Popular conspiracy theories blames the Zetans (Or “Grays” in the conspiracy community) for everything from stock market crashes and political assassinations, to control over children’s entertainment and food additives.

History

Once a booming star empire encompassing dozens of systems, a war with the Techpriestdom of the Progenitors a millenia ago saw the Zeta Reticuli pushed back to a single system before tendering their surrender. The causes for the war remains mysterious to the Systems Alliance; The techpriests have no interest in sharing details and the Zetans gives so many conflicting accounts that parsing the truth from the lies is an impossibility. Archaeologists examining former Zetan worlds points to a wide diversity in architecture and scientific development on the planets and in the lost societies, causing them to theorize that the Zetans may have been potential rivals to the techpriests.

Foreign Relations

While not outright at war with anyone, the Zetans sends stark warnings to any ships nearing their borders. Without a Drift beacon in the system, closer inspection without igniting a war has been impossible and, as such, they remain isolated.
