Warring Lashunta States

Until fifty years ago, the Lashunta Dynasties was a major power, rivaling the Gor Dominion and the Systems Alliance in both military and political strength. A system controlled firmly by a caste system, with two distinct races; The Korasha, the warrior class, and the Damaya, the academic class. While at one time, the two races were equal, over a period of hundreds of years, the Damaya increasingly came to rule. As power and wealth increasingly became concentrated in Damaya hands and their society became increasingly reliant on high-tech industries, the Korasha became politically displaced, economically disenfranchised and was increasingly forced to either take low paying manual labor jobs, join the military or become unemployed in a society where that made you a social pariah. While the Lashunta Dynasties as a whole had booming economic growth, it could not last; in 386 SSD, Field Marshall Nealia Acasha was elected to the office of Primarch on Corellia V, one of the core Lashunta planets. While the position is not a democratic one, year-long riots in the streets by Korasha citizens had made the Lashunta Primarchs decide to try a strategy of appeasement, appointing a popular Korasha in Acasha to a position of rulership.
The strategy of appeasement did not work. As Primarch Acasha continually spoke out in favor of the downtrodden, the other Lashunta Primarchs grew worried that Primarch Acasha was using her position to enrich herself and her allies, in a criminal agree. Disseminating the information to the public through the news media was intended to lay the groundwork for removal of the corrupt Primarch, but had a different and unintended effect. Claiming that the media, run almost exclusively by Damaya, was manufacturing a campaign against her because she spoke out against the “Shadow Government”, Primarch Acasha was able to fan the embers of resentment, making the Korasha even more enraged. The response among the Damaya, on the other hand, was one of disgust with Primarch Acasha and, emboldened by what the Primarchs thought was universel support, In 388, the Primarchs unilaterally voted to impeach Primarch Acasha. At this, the resentment amongst the Korasha exploded into riots and, on the urging of Primarch Acasha, into a full-blown civil war.
For two years, the civil wars raged, with the Korasha behind Primarch Acasha winning almost every engagement, until 390, when an assassin killed Primarch Acasha. While the Korasha was quick to claim that the fleeing Primarchs was responsible, they deny responsibility to this day. The loss of their leader did not calm down the Korasha, but rather caused the war to escalate into outright genocide and internal fighting. Weapons of mass destruction was unleashed inside major cities and orbital bombardments were executed.
The Warring Lashunta States are now ruled by a multitude of former generals, exiled Primarchs and would-be warlords, with no sense of unity. While the decades of war has drained the resources of the Warring Lashunta States, they keep on fighting, with little hope of peace. Systems Alliance intelligence agents and journalists has in the aftermath of the collapse of the Lashunta Dynasties uncovered compelling evidence that the rise of Primarch Acasha was aided by a foreign influence, but the identity or sponsor remains unknown. Rumors range from Department 0 agents and Zeta Reticuli infiltrators to meddling demons or angry gods.
