The Unity Church

The followers of the creed of the Unity Church believes that all of the universe were created by a benevolent, omnipotent deity dubbed simply The Creator. They believe that at the beginning of time, The Creator wove the world into existence with her pure will and that, seeing that the world needed love, seeded the galaxy with sentient races capable of embracing each other. While the Unity Church does not believe in other outright gods, they do warn of a being of almost equal power to The Creator, dubbed The Destroyer. This entity is as infinitely malevolent as The Creator is benevolent, interested only in tearing down everything The Creator built. He works through the hate and violence living in the hearts of men, making them destroy instead of building. They believe that this struggle has been going on since the beginning of time, but that eventually all sentient creatures will lay down their weapons and see each other. At that time, The Destroyer will be exercised from the hearts of all and love will reign forever.


Members of the Unity Church are devoted to pacifism and abstains from using violence, even when their lives are threatened. Despite this being a a benevolent and peaceful religion, Unifiers often find themselves on the outside of society, harassed and mocked in the streets. For this reason, the last fifty years have seen Unity Church congregations increasingly becoming colonists, migrating to uncolonized planets where they can live in peace. Of course, being pacifist, this often leads to them becoming targets for raiders and pirates looking for food or bloodshed.


The Unity Church preaches that the simple life, without excess of luxuries, makes you appreciate life more and while they are not outright ludites, many Unifiers prefers working the earth and enjoying the company of others over consumer market entertainment.
