The world of Statera is a hard-boiled classic fantasy world full of monsters, magic, and adventure. It is not set in any particular post-apocalyptic era or fallout, but that is not to say there were not past events that have shaped the world today. Anything that can happen will happen and anything that can exist will likely exist in Statera. There large metropolises, vast kingdoms, lost cities, small coves, and everything in between. The two largest cities reside on either end of the continent. The capitals of the two Human kingdoms of Iscarius and Lux, the cities represent a longstanding divide among the Humans that dates back many ages. As a result of this divide and the rising dominance of the human kingdoms over major parts of the world, the Elves retreated back into their hidden cities and secret halls within the far stretches of the land. Wood Elves have started to extend their hand outside of their wooded fortresses in recent decades, but High Elves are still a very rare sight aside from perhaps their occasional visit to neighboring settlements near their kingdoms. Dwarves and Halfings on the other hand, are more than plentiful in the land. The Dwarves are known to stay within the great stone walls of their cities and Halflings are known to be particular about green grass and a shining sun, but both races are common inside the borders of the great human kingdoms and they live in the metropolis happily and peacefully with the other races that call the cities home.

The humans are no doubt the most numerous race in Statera, but tragically they are the least powerful and skilled in the arcane arts compared to other civilizations. Humans lack of the capability and knowledge to tap into the Weave, the river of magic that flows between the planes of the universe. As a result of the war that divided them, all knowledge of arcane spell casting was lost and the capability to tap into the Weave was taken away. In the centuries since, humans have started to be able to tap into the Weave in small amounts through beings known as the Elder Trees, but usually nothing more than common party tricks and illusions. The real magical power lies with the clergymen, priests, and acolytes of the churches who have been gifted divine magic by their patron gods and goddesses. Even druids and those who use the power of nature are few within the walls of the cities. Arcane spellcasting is in fact largely outlawed and the people have been taught to fear those who practice the arcane arts.

Things of since have calmed in the many years since the separation of Iscarius and Lux and truth be told, there are only a few who know of the old warring days. That said, after mysterious attacks on the settlements near the borders of Lux, blame is being shifted and tensions are beginning to rise once again. Luxon rebel groups ask for war and retaliation but so far nothing has happened. The king is getting old and many question his ability to rule, asserting the the Church should take full power. Many things about the city's future are uncertain. In addition, across the world and unbeknownst to many except the well informed, a new King of Iscarius has been crowned following the untimely death of an uncle. There are rumors of a prophecy being spoken, one that surrounds the fate of the new king.
