Heavy Railcannon

The Diomedes Arms Heavy Railcannon is one of the Solar Union's standard anti-vehicle weapons. The cannon is far from man-portable, deployable only on dedicated battlesuit platforms or as a vehicle-mounted weapon. While the cannon has a low fire rate, it is one of the few ground weapons capable of penetrating the heaviest targets the Union comes up against.
The Heavy Railcannon requires an astronomically high power pulse to charge and fire, which means any battlesuit equipped with it is required to fit out an additional hardpoint with a blast charger. The charger uses expendable propellant cartridges to power a magnetohydrodynamic generator, delivering the necessary power spike. Diomedes Arms is experimenting with non-expendable recharging methods to lighten the load on the battlesuit's chassis.
