Mutants have existed for roughly 5,000 years (and possibly longer for any that are no of this world), but were only discovered by the general public in the 1940s.   Since then superheroes and super villains have been roaming the world. But in the 1980s anti-mutant sentiment began to start. While superheroes (only those that are supported by the government) are worshipped, the average mutant is met with hatred.     There are many talks about mutant camps, mutant registration and the like. It is known that mutants have begun disappearing, but no one seems to know why.
