Faith of the Crystal Web

The principal faith of the Arachant people, the belief in the crystal web is wide spread. Before the invention of the resonance drives there was a school of belief that thought it was just all hallucinations brought on by ingesting the jump grub but once they could travel the crystal web itself throughout the galaxy, many reformed their skeptical ways. There are still some who refuse to believe and reject the idea that the resonance pathways across the galaxy is this holy crystal web.

History

On the planet Yanar, the 6th planet in the Tandao system, the homeworld of the Arachant people, the concept of the crystal web came to Hama Orun. Not her original name, but the humanised version, the true pronunciation of her name is impossible without the vibration-based speech of the Arachants. Hama lived in what was then the Flicker Swamps, a dangerous area with many strange species living there. This was the home to what is now called the Jump Grub. A small fat caterpillar-like creature that has the ability of short range teleportation to keep itself safe. Due to this ability it was impossible to catch one within an Arachant food web. Determined to catch one and enjoy the succulent juices within, Hama Orun sat perfectly still waiting for a grub to appear next to her. She had watched them extensively and knew after appearing they had about 2 seconds before they could jump again. Enough time she felt for her to grab and bite the head off one. After 14 days and nights, one finally appeared within reach and Hama struck. Like a stroke of lightning she pounced and bit deeply into its head, pumping it full of her venom and rendering it unable to disappear and savoured the acrid juices within. Not long after she fell into a comatose state and begun having vivid vision like dreams.
She saw a great web that joined all things, that spanned the planet she knew and beyond. Her mind travelled down the strands of this shining web and saw strange new places and peoples she couldn’t begin to comprehend.
After some time she awoke where she had fallen, and her vision was forever altered. She could see the jump grubs moving and travelling. When one jumped, she knew where it would end up. She saw them like little beads of light twinkling in and out of existence.
She knew that this great crystal web she had seen was real and that it was up to her to tell her kind about it. Why else would it have revealed itself to her if not to have her spread the word.

Formation of the Crystal Congregation

As Hama travelled to all the great nest-cities, she spread the word of the crystal web. Many of her kind were skeptical of what she told them. They scorned her and ridiculed her. Some cities even decided to banish her to stop her madness spreading. Some few believed her and to these she bestowed jump grubs of their own to eat. Bringing them in to her inner circle. The grubs changed them as they had changed her, expanded their minds and augmented their vision.
Her way of thinking would sway more and more Arachants in time, they would earn their own mind expanding meals and the faith spread further.
Her original followers, the 14 strands of the web as they called themselves, organised the building of a great building at the heart of the Flicker Swamps. A magnificent crystal cathedral to glorify the Crystal Web and give them a place to worship it. At the heart of the building stood Hama, who they called The Webs Centre, giving her sermons to her crystal congregation. Her vibration based speech would thrum through the crystal of the building. Amplified so all could hear it travelled throughout the structure and caused the spires to give off a noise like singing with the resonance of it.
