The Metro Family

The Metros are a family of French-Syrian multi billionaires. The Metros immigrated to Mexico around the 1930s and bought many public utilities from the Mexican government as they moved to privatize them. The Metros own large swaths of telecommunication infrastructure, television networks and banks which were formerly public.
The Metros have been implicated with organized crime in many occasions, most notably in 1992 when Heriberto Guerrero revealed the family was, knowingly, laundering money in exchange for kickbacks. Regardless no action has ever been taken against the family, at most they have lost company assets and have suffered from increased scrutiny in their operations but personally no member of the family has ever been implicated in a criminal lawsuit.
It is widely believed the Metros have a hand in all criminal operations inside of Mexico City, as the Xopan Cuicatl relates, even a group as insignificant as Gang 21 required their support to exist.
