The Qinglong or Azure Dragon is the guardian of the East direction and is generally depicted as a symbol of protection. It’s capable of dispelling evil and negative energies. He is considered by many to be the noblest of all animals and was actually considered the leader of the Auspicious Animals before having his authority challenged by the inclusion of the Huanglong, and the two are in an eternal competition for ascendency. The Fenghuang and Qinglong are considered to be enemies, and due to their animosity the Qinglong considers most feathered creatures as antagonists. Some legends say that this is because the Fenghuang was previously the consort of the the Azure Dragon before the arrival of the Gold. Qinglong can appear to be both blue or green and many shades between, thus is also sometimes referred to as iridescent’ with is scales being colourful and of varying gradations. They are considered to be mutable, easily adaptable to situations and adapt at changing their form, more so than other dragons. As one of the five celestial beasts the Qinglong of the East symbolizes the element wood, life, sunrise, spring and health, and the colours green and blue. He embodies strength, luck, fertility, vitality and the virtue of propriety. He also represents spirituality, wisdom and the energy of transformation. He represents the forces of the yang, the positive, creative, masculine, virile principle.

Qinglong Racial Traits

+2 Int, +2 Cha, -2 Str, Qinglong often have a noble and aloof bearing, well suited to leading and taking control of situations, they tend to pursue more scholarly, than military pursuits. Qinglong: Qinglong are humanoids with the Human and Wood subtypes. Medium: Qinglong are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size. Normal Speed: Qinglong have a base speed of 30 feet. Elementally Aligned: Your strong affinity to your celestial totem imbues you with an affinity for its associated element, thus you have the (Wood) Subtype. Elemental Attunement: Any special abilities, class features, or spells you use with the (Wood) descriptor function as if your character, class or caster level was one level greater. Elemental Harmony: Any class features, feats, special abilities or spells you use which heal damage or provide bonuses function as if one character, class, or caster level higher when the recipient has the (Fire) subtype. Elemental Adversity: Any class features, feats, special abilities or spells you use which deal damage or inflict penalties function as if one character, class, or caster level higher when the recipient has the (Earth) subtype. Springs's Blessing: Possessed of the power of rebirth, health and vitality you gain a +2 Racial Bonus to Heal checks and Heal is always a class skill for you. Mutable Nature: You are highly skilled at altering and changing your appearance and mannerisms, you gain a +2 Racial Bonus to Bluff and Disguise checks and may choose one of the two as a Class Skill. However, you are also highly susceptible to spells and effects that alter your form taking a -2 penalty to all saves to resist spells or effects of the Polymorph subschool.
