Conquering of High Castle

Military: Battle

913AS

Sildenfil marched against Volkstädt and the High King did not stop them. This resulted in Volkstädt no longer being loyal to the High King, defeating Sildenfil and attacking and conquering High Castle. An assasination of the High King and deception led to the military of the High King retaking High Castle after The Hunt ravaged the city.

When the kingoms regained their strength and the long period of peace, except for the yearly Hunt, helped them rebuild and increase living standards and wealth, the role of the High King became more and more obsolete. Tensions began to rise as kingdoms became more and more envious of each other. Another war broke out in 913 AS when wrong assumptions and accusations were thrown around in the High King's hall. The High King at that time was old and tired of politics and instead distanced himself from any obligation. Until one day the Sildenfil army was marching through the Keltingen Pass without being stopped and continued to march against Guldentown. Their forces were repelled by Volkstädt's forces, who then in turn marched against High Castle. Since the new High King could only be elected after the old one died, the head of the royal guard thought it was time for a change and assasinated the High King. When the Volkstädt army did not slow down after these news, he ordered to leave the city and flee to the north, into Harting territory. Since they knew Humans would not stay for long in their houses, a few Harting families even left their homes for the human refugees, seeking shelter in other Harting's homes further north themselves. Not everyone left High Castle, but most did, when Volkstädt occupied High Castle. Towards the end of the summer 913 The Hunt was used by a local to decimate the occupants by opening the city doors. High Castle was usually safe from The Hunt, unless the previous years have not been successful for The Swarm, then they become more and more desperate, so that year also. When they found High Castle's city gates open, The Swarm flooded into the city and killed almost all inhabitants. That local had the orders from the head of the High Castle garrison before they fled the city. After that they returned and took the now empty city back. After that incident the kingdoms could not agree on a new High King and the role was not filled for several years.
